Gentle Hiking

Klammeben – Hirzerhütte – Reseggeralm – Tallneralm – Sonntagsweide – Stafell

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
End point: Saltaus lower terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben top terminal (1980 m) and walk to Hirzerhütte (1980 m), Resegger Alm and Tallner Alm. From there, take the slightly ascending trail n. 1 to Sonntagsweide (in June and July, you will enjoy the alpine rose blossom) and Stafell Alm (1940 m). It will take you half an hour to walk back to the Klammeben top station.

Klammeben – Gompm Alm – Gasthof Hochwies – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben top terminal (1980 m) and walk to Hirzerhütte and Resegger Alm (1980 m). From there, the trail takes you downhill across Gampernwiesen to Gompm Alm (1808 m). Continue walking downhill along a forest road until you get to Gasthof Hochwies (1530m). A surfaced road will take you to Prenn mid terminal (1404 m).

Klammeben – Stafell – Grube – Waalerhöfe – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben top terminal (1980 m). From there, a lovely path will take you to Stafell Alm (1940 m) in a 30-minute walk. Continue along a steep downhill path until you get to to Gasthof Grube (1808 m), then walk west through the woods to Waalerhöfe (1570 m). Trail n. 2 will take you to Prenn mid terminal (1404 m).

Klammeben – Hirzerhütte – Resegger Alm – Gompm Alm – Gasthof Grube – Waalerhöfe – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben top terminal (1980 m) and walk to Hirzerhütte and Resegger Alm (1980 m). From there, the trail takes you downhill across Gampenwiesen to Gompm Alm (1808 m). Walk along trail n. 2 to Gasthof Grube (1808 m) and then down to Waalerhöfe (located 1.507 m above sea level, these are the most elevated farms in the Schenna municipal area). Follow marker n. 2 until you get to Prenn mid terminal.

Klammeben – Gasthaus Grube – Waalerhöfe – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the tram to Klammeben top terminal (1980 m) and follow trail n. 6 to Gasthof Grube (1808 m). From there, walk downhill through the woods until you get to Waalerhöfe (1570 m). Trail n. 2 will take you to Prenn mid terminal (1404 m).

Klammeben – Gasthaus Grube – Oberkirn – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the tram to Klammeben upper terminal (1980 m) and walk along trail n. 2 until you get to Gasthof Grube (1808 m). From there, walk down to Oberkirn (1458 m) and to Prenn mid terminal (1404 m).

Moderate hikes

Klammeben – Stafell – Videgg – Oberkirn – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben upper terminal (1980 m) and reach Stafell Alm (1940 m) in a pleasant 30-minute walk. Continue downhill until you get to Videgg (1536 m). From there, a surfaced road will lead you to Prenn mid terminal.

Alpine rose tour

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Klammeben upper terminal

Route: Take the tram to Klammeben upper terminal and walk to Hirzerhütte, then to Resegger Alm and Tallner Alm (2000m) and continue across hillsides covered with alpine roses until you reach Rotmoos. From there, get down to Mahdalm (1990m) and Hinteregger Alm and walk back to Klammeben. The best period for this walk are the months of June and July, when the alpine roses are in blossom.

Prenn – Oberkirn – Videgg – Stafell – Klammeben

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Klammeben

Route: Take the aerial tram to Prenn mid terminal and walk along the trail that takes to Oberkirn (1.450 m) and Videgg (1.536 m). From there, continue uphill until you reach Stafell Alm (1.940 m), then walk to Klammeben upper terminal (1.980).

Klammeben – Hirzerhütte – Hirzerspitze

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: ride with the Hirzer aerial tram (or with the Ifinger aerial tram to Meran/Merano)

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben upper terminal and walk to Hirzerhütte (1980 m). This is were the ascension to the top of the Hirzer begins. The trail leads east across the hollow to the arête. Once you got there, turn left to the Hirzer peak (2.781 m). If you are an expert mountaineer, we recommend the Gebirgsjägersteig trail leading down the east face of the Hirzer to Kratzberger lake. The European long distance trail E5 will take you to the upper terminal of the Ifinger aerial tram.

Hirzer Almenrunde

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
return: tram ride from Prenn mid terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben (1980 m) and walk to Hirzerhütte (1980 m) and Resegger Alm, then to Hintereggalm (1990 m) and Mahdalm (2000 m). Walk down to Gompm Alm (1808 m) and follow the surfaced road to Gasthof Hochwies (1584m) and Prenn mid terminal (1404 m). This pleasant hike will take you to the most beautiful alpine inns of the Hirzer area, which provide breathtaking views of the sorrounding peaks.

Challenging hikes

Klammeben – Hirzerhütte – Pfandler Alm – St. Martin i. Passeier

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
End point: St. Martin in Passeier

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben and walk to Hirzerhütte (1980 m) and Resegger Alm, then continue along the almost even European long distance trail E5 until you reach Hintereggalm (1.990m) and Mahdalm (2.000m). Crossing alpine meadows and woods, descend to St. Martin in Passeier via Pfandler Alm (1.350m) and the hamlet of Prantach. To get back to Saltaus, you make take the Meran-Passeier bus line.

Klammeben – Stafell – Videgger Assen – Videgg – Oberkirn – Prenn

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Prenn mit terminal

Route: Take the aerial tram to Klammeben (1980 m). A pleasant 30-minute walk will take you to Stafell Alm (1940m). Now follow trail n. 1 to Videgger Assen meadow with its unique alpine flora. Walk down to Prenn mid terminal (1404 m) via Videgg (1536 m) and Oberkirn (1458 m). This walking tour requires good weather conditions and is not recommendable after heavy rain or thunderstorm. Before you start, ask for information about the walkability of the trails.

Klammeben – Stafell – Videgg – Streitweider Alm – Taser

Starting point: Saltaus lower terminal
Return: tram ride from Taser to Schenna

Route: Ride the aerial tram to Klammeben (1980 m). A pleasant 30-minute walk will take you to Stafell Alm (1940 m). From there, walk down to Videgg (1536 m), then continue along Taser Höhenweg until you get to Gasthof Taser (1450 m) via Streitweider Alm (1560m). The Taser aerial tram will take you down to Schenna.

Klammeben – Hirzerhütte – Pfandler Alm – St. Leonhard

Start: Saltaus lower terminal
End point: St. Leonhard i. P.

Route: Ride the aerial tram to Klammeben (1980 m) and walk to Hirzerhütte (1980 m) and Resegger Alm, then to Mahdalm (2000 m) via Hintereggalm (1990m). The European long distance trail E5 will take you to Pfandler Alm (1.350 m) across alpine meadows and woods, then to the Pfandler farm and its chapel. Continue along E5 until you get to St. Leonhard in Passeier, the main locality of Passeier valley. From there, you may take the Meran-Passeier bus line to get back to Saltaus.
